Community Service

"This country will not be a good place for any of us to live unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in."

-U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt

"Having a positive influence on people, helping others: that's winning."

-Mike Krzyzewski, Duke University Basketball

One of the pillars of  the Delaware Roadrunners Select Baseball team is Community Service.  We believe that our players are privileged to be able to play baseball at this level.  Therefore, we want them to learn to give to those who are less fortunate and to help the community in general as a Thank You to all those that support them.

1/23/2008 - Sussex Child Health Promotion Coalition Seaford Food Drop

Two players, Connor Cooper and Hunter Absher volunteered at a food drop in our first project with the Sussex Child Health Promotion Coalition (SCHPC).  The boys main job was to help carry boxes of food to people's cars. The boy worked very hard and have been asked to help at a future event at the Seaford Boys and Girls Club with their teammates.  Connor Cooper's picture (right) was on the front page of the January 31, 2008 edition of The Leader and State Register.  Read the article from the register.

11/11/2007 - Tree Planting at the Sussex Conservation District

The Delaware Roadrunner family including the players, siblings, parents and coaches helped plant a native species buffer at the Sussex Conservation District's Shortly Road office in Georgetown, Delaware.  This buffer will serve as a demonstration project for native species buffers.  Native Species Buffers are vegetative barriers comprised of plants native to Sussex County, Delaware.  Preserving native species is an important part of protecting Delaware's natural resources.
